Super Bowl Sunday
Most American families incorporate the Superbowl in their yearly traditions. Everything from the commercials, to the half time performance, to the actual game, play an important role in the Superbowl. This year, as the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles head into the 2018 Superbowl, the Sikon family is preparing for their annual Superbowl party. The different chips, dips, and snacks all play an important role in our family tradition. Being a family of immigrants, many would think that football wouldn't be a sport of interest to us, but when my family came to the United States, they adapted many American traditions. This isn't to say that we neglected our Polish traditions, but we tried to adapt to our new surrounding and the Superbowl happened to be one tradition that we would carry on. As the Patriots and Eagles make their way onto the field Sunday night, who will you be cheering on?
Oh, I'm a Tom Brady gal! I love the Patriots! That said, I was happy to see the Eagles take the victory. I love an underdog. I mean, I'm not sure I should refer to them as "underdogs," but up against the many recent Pats victories, right? So, a question for you: What's your fav superbowl snack? Is there a certain chip or dip? BTW, we had a Polish friend, Sheila Wallenda, who used to make us Glumpky (sp?); we LOVED it! Thanks for sharing, Edyta!
